What's involved?
My sessions are designed with two aims in mind: tell a fantastic story, and make it fun! Sessions are all unique; tailored to suit the age of the children in the setting and the number of children in the class and include a live, interactive reading of my stories followed by a teamwork activity and some solo crafting. All materials are provided by me, and children will have something fun to take home and spread the magic as far as possible.
For school settings I am happy to stick around and offer sessions to several classes throughout the day. the sessions work best for KS1 groups, but can be adapted to benefit older and younger age groups. Use the contact form below to get in touch and find out more!
Why?
As both an author and a home-educating mum of three, I'm passionate about fostering a love of reading in children. Reading should never be a chore, a job to tick off the list. Stories are such a treasure; they expand our perceptions of what's possible, create heroes to aspire to and villains to learn from. They build the muscles of the imagination, and what is life without the magical places we escape to in our heads? I offer these sessions for free because I love playing a part in connecting children with stories. It's what I wrote my books for, to share with the world, to inspire and enrich. I also love being able to talk to children about the process of publishing a book. You never know when you might be talking to the next Julia Donaldson or Beatrix Potter! I want to play a part in encouraging children along the creative paths of their dreams, which is an enormous privilege and joy.
