Autumn Photography Competition (2nd September-1st December)
This competition is a chance to learn the art of photography. Taking a good photo requires three skills: a keen eye for beauty, a steady hand with the camera and a unique perspective position. GET CREATIVE! You could snap from above, like a birds eye view? Low down, up close for extra detail? Eye level for drama? You decide! The only guideline is your photograph must showcase NATURE in some form. What is your favourite part of this season? Autumn spoils us for choice with beauty, you will find inspiration everywhere. It could be a single, shiny conker. A particularly vibrant array of leaves. A patch of late blooming wildflowers. A dramatic sunset You decide! What will make your photo stand out?
Now for the exciting part: THE PRIZE!
For this competition, there will be three winners: first, second and third place.
FIRST PLACE WINS: A 50 piece crocheted daisy chain (handmade locally), a daisy-themed mini gardening set and their photograph printed in a daisy frame (made by me!)
SECOND PLACE WINS: A daisy themed mini gardening set and their photograph printed in a daisy frame (made by me!)
THIRD PLACE WINS: A daisy themed mini gardening set
Entry Instructions
As the second leg of the Daisy Chain Disaster tour involves children from pre school age all the way up to year 3, this competition has been designed to be fun and educational for all of the little readers I will meet from September through to November. Photography is a skill that can be learned and enjoyed at any age, and practiced by anybody with access to a smartphone. Perhaps start by exploring some different types of nature photography online, discussing which styles they like the most then head outdoors to get inspired! Practice using the macro setting, pro settings etc and take LOTS of practice shots. I want this to be an opportunity for children and their grown ups to enjoy the incredible beauty of autumnal nature together, and perhaps learn how to capture a really fantastic shot.
When you have your entry, please enter via one of the following two ways:
EMAIL: attach your photo to an email and send it to amy.wilson1@mail.com along with your child's name and age
FACEBOOK: there will be a pinned post at the top of my facebook page for the duration of the competition. Leave your child's name and age on the comment and contact me separately to provide a contact email/phone number in case you win (please do not post this on your comment as it will be public)
ONE RULE: please do not edit or upscale your child's photo in any way. They should have chosen the subject themselves and taken the shot themselves, with only guidance from an adult, not direct interference. If it takes a while to get the right shot, good! Practice, practice, practice. If you want to, perhaps teach your child to alter the brightness, contrast etc and play about with these elements. It's all learning, and photography is such a wonderfully enjoyable art form!
WINNERS ANNOUNCED 2nd DECEMBER! GOOD LUCK!
